About
Stacey Dart
I am an accredited Cognitive Behaviour Psychotherapist with the BABCP and EMDR Therapist with EMDR UK. I offer personalised therapy for anxiety, low mood, and trauma, and have experience of working with neurodiversity and eating difficulties.
I have a passion for helping people, and have worked extensively across the age range in the NHS since 2003, in adult community settings, inpatient and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. I have been involved in training and supervising other therapists in CBT at the University of Exeter and am passionate about improving access to therapy for those who need it now.
Over the years I have been informing my practice with other therapeutic approaches such as systemic therapy (working with families and systems) mindfulness based cognitive therapy, group psychotherapy and compassion focussed therapy.
Having a good relationship with your therapist is important for getting the most out of your sessions, so feel free to reach out for an initial consultation to determine if we are a good fit. Together, we can explore the best ways to support your journey to wellness. Your healing journey starts here!

Individual therapy sessions are in person. We start with an assessment to thoroughly understand your specific needs and then tailor your therapy using proven techniques like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), to help you navigate the challenges of life. Together, we will focus on your personal goals in a supportive environment as you work on your well-being.
My approach is to understand how trauma impacts you and to create a safe and supportive environment to explore this. My work helps you to recognise the signs of trauma and use that insight to empower and uplift you, all while keeping safety, trust, and teamwork in focus.
In therapy, making adjustments is important for helping neurodiverse clients get the support they need. By personalising approaches to match different learning styles and communication preferences, we can boost how therapy works. When we embrace these changes, we create a more welcoming space that encourages growth and healing.

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
(CBT)
CBT is a straightforward and goal-driven therapy that helps you spot and challenge negative thoughts and feelings. It teaches you how your thoughts can affect your feelings and actions, so you can come up with healthier ways to cope. Using techniques like cognitive restructuring and behavioural activation, CBT encourages you to challenge your beliefs and see how things can be different. This down-to-earth approach often leads to better emotional well-being and an overall happier life.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing
(EMDR)
EMDR, is a therapeutic technique aimed at helping you manage and recover from difficult experiences. Its primary goal is to reduce the emotional distress linked to memories by activating the brain's natural healing processes. Through guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation, EMDR helps to reprocess these memories, making it easier for integration into your life and moving forward. This innovative therapy has proven effective for various issues, including PTSD, positively affecting many people.

Compassion
and Mindfulness
Mindfulness helps you become aware of your thoughts and feelings, allowing for observation of them without judgment and foster self-kindness. By integrating compassion, mindfulness breaks the cycle of depression and anxiety, enabling skilful responses to thoughts and promoting emotional well-being. Both of these elements are important and bring something extra to sessions to help you to build on skills and manage difficult emotions.
